Returning to Nature's Healing

The 21st century has seen remarkable advances in technology, science, and some areas of medicine. But the most remarkable is the application of modern scientific research to ancient art of herbalism. For thousands of years communities and individuals combatted illness, disease, and injury with what was available to them...nature. Nature in the form of clays, hot springs, foods, herbs. etc. These practices were refined and qualities of medical herbs known and applied. Somehow over the last 150 years we, as a global society, have forgotten the amazing power of Mother Nature and turned to prescription drugs and dealt with their side effects and addiction. However, with the coming of the 21st century and the growing dissatisfaction of the "just-take-a-pill" philosophy people are (and some never left this way of thinking) moving back to nature and rediscovering it's power to heal and cure disease and illness at its root cause.

With my growing knowledge of nutrition, the medical qualities of herbs, and the harmful additive, chemical riddled commercial products I decided to start URB Apothecary.

Simple commercial products such as Vasoline and Neosporin are petroleum-based and meant for application on wounds which, in my mind, is totally contradictory; petroleum-based products do not assist in the healing of the body.

In response to this dissatisfaction I created an all-natural healing salve to be used in place of Neosporin and the like. I infused organic olive oil for one month with comfrey, mugwort, St. John's wort, calendula flower, and plantain to create a natural healing salve initially to give out to friends and family as Christmas gifts. After a receiving an overwhelming positive response as to the effectiveness of the salve and at friend's urging, I decided to make more and sell them.

URB Apothecary has a very successful lip balm line as well and we will be adding new products.
